I actually participated in the Halo 2 online prelims for this WCG tournament. I was 2 kills away from a free trip to that New York city competition. Which sucks, but I'm not too disappointed about it because atleast I know where I stand against the gamers who are at that level. Besides, I didn't have time to get any decent practice games in before hand, because the WCG was so goddamned disorganized about the whole thing.
That's what pisses me off. The fact that this supposedly big organization who hosts this huge world wide gaming competition EVERY YEAR couldn't get their fucking act together and tell me for sure IF or WHEN I was going to be playing. They had months to set it all up and they had every bit of contact info I possess. But instead they sent me an email the day before I was to play. Not to mention the fact that they said I didn't sign up quick enough to be entered, but used me as a reserve player. I signed up the same day as I recieved their email telling me that registration had begun. Fuckers!
The email they sent me to confirm my reserve player status said "Add the referee to your friends list, and be online in xbox live between 3-4pm." The ref didn't even log in untill after 4pm.
Whatever, all I'm sayin is this: think twice before you get involved with the WCG. Because it's REALLY frustrating to deal with those disorganized Korean bastards. Even more frustrating than missing out on an all expense paid trip to NYC by two kills.
