After seeing Ivy's new look, I decided not to buy the new Soul Caliber, so they've at least lost one sale. I wonder if the she actually entices anyone to buy the game that wouldn't have bought it anyways? I'm also vastly annoyed by the Viera in FFXII. An entire race of only women that wear nothing but lingerie and whose "natural" foot shape is a stiletto heel? Seriously ridiculous, especially when you look at the audience of the FF games, which I'm betting are at least half straight women. If they're going to have an eye-candy race, they should have had something to appeal to those that prefer men, too.

well, i guess i'll turn in my feminist card, because i like my plate-mail bikini look. sometimes i am even disappointed when i pick up new gear in WoW because it covers too much. pallies just don't get as many skimpy options as hunters do. though i do think the new ivy outfit is going too far..... unless they incorporate true to life sag and unbalancing effects... that would be funny. or if an opponent could perform a special attack and pop one! as for the conan thing..... have you read conan? the females in the conan MMO should definitely wear fur, feathers, leather & mail boots & bikinis, if not less. thats just staying true to the original stories. however, they should also get some sort of conan-thugtype-disabling crippling blueballs attack or special distraction ability.

Yeah. I guess I havent gotten advanced enough as a elementalist (it was hard and I tried to see if maybe I need to get used to GW controls first with something easier) to see any dramatic "panty shots" from when they are using their powers. Admittedly the last cosplay effort I did was of a vid game character and the clothes were kind of skimpy (but not as bad as most Japanese anime characters). My look when I finally got the skirt in the mail (I had custom ordered) was "wait....where is the rest of the skirt" because I have big ol' hips.

Most of the warrior armor is no more skirted for female characters than for male. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Warrior_armor The Elementalists are definitely the ho-pantses of GW, though the mesmers aren't a LOT better. much of their armor is nightgowns, but even they have some pants options (or leggings rather) http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mesmer_armor I think GW is pretty good for variety in clothing options. Yeah, you know... I loved the first Tombraider but.... even in the jungles, if you are schlepping along, you wear pants. Never know what type of venomous snake or spider may be lurking in the rocks. -- and speaking of, kind of looking forward to the re-done version of the first game. I might actually (gasp) buy a game for my PSP now. Never played Guild Wars, but I heard it was pretty good. She almost always wears shorts and now they have furthered things by giving her non-cone shaped boobs and she wears jeans for a good portion of the time of Angel of Darkness. ...to get a pair of pants in the gaming world? Maybe it's just some of the MMO's and games I've played but... seriously, can we have a chick that wears pants? When I was playing FFXI, every pair of bottoms my character would put on either turned into a bikini bottom or short shorts. I really don't see how those could be helpful while tanking... What really spawned this frustration (and mind you it was just an annoyance, but it could spark conversation) however, was browsing around Kotaku and seeing they had some info on the new Conan game, and slapped right up there was sexy naked babe. Yeah it's Conan, but it's also an MMO - you're trying to appeal to a wide audience here. Honestly think that image makes female gamers flock to the game? So, I went to check out the game's actual site, and surprise surprise, more thong-clad female "warriors". Most of the in-game images were male, but from what I can tell, the female characters are running around in bras and furry thongs (which just would not be comfortable, lets think about this here). Would it be so much to ask for at least a sensible clothing option? And I know there are plenty of ladies out there in the digital realm who had good clothes for what they were doing (Aya from PE for example , wore jeans, shirt and a leather jacket with boots! Made sense when running about after crazy mitochondria beasties.) Anyone else care to share either offenses or decent costumes from games?
