Irritable

My life is high stress right now and playing anything with lots of frustration potential is enough to make me throw the whole console or computer out the window and anyone else who happens to be in my way. But despite a serious irritability level, I still need to play.

I need something chilled that will make me relax. Finished Siberia II but all the walking around got a bit dull and I don't really like when the characters have to go through a script for you to find things out. I need something new. Anyone else ever find something good for low stress gameplay?

my number one stress releasing game which isn't hard to beat and never gets old.... bust-a-move 2 (aka the bubble game). it’s repetitive, mindless, it zones you out, hell I could start a whole new meditative discipline based on it.

I agree with that as well. I love that game.

ooooh.... i miss that game. it is odd, however.... one of my ex-roomies and i were addicted to that game, and would often play it for days on end, ust walking away and leaving it for the other person whenever we went out or to work. this is how we discovered bust-a-moves secret.

we were just hangin out, reading horror stories (read: womens beauty mags) and listening to ozzy, when we realized that a "bust-a-move screensaver" had started on the screen.

entranced by shiny moving objects, we watched for several songs....and noticed that, though the sound system and tv were in no way linked, the screen saver would change tempos to align itself with the song currently playing.

we're pretty sure it liked "crazy train" best.

speaking of bust-move and meditative states, anyone remember that old 'ibm-compatible' game 'Harmony?' just a bunch of spheres moving around the 2d screen space, really, but to master the game play required a calm, centered focus that was ultimately quite pleasing.

Nitrous Oxide was another one of my favorite zen-state games. nothing like surfing firewalls to put your mind at ease.

That reminds me of Centipede which I still like - I just found out now that it was one of the first games to be designed by a woman and actually attracted more girls than guys. Wonder what is so feminine about it???

Anyway Pipe Dreams is pretty zen-like too. I remember playing a 2-player variant with a mate for hours days on end whilst our boss was away.

The way I feel now, Katamari sounds like the game for me. I need some fluffly feel-goodness. And my birthday is next week! Hurray.

I fifth or sixth the Katamari Damacy (oe We love Katamari) suggestion. It is a wonderfully mindless game. Very soothing & hypnotizing. & it's eerily relaxing to watch someone play as well.
